Dental Cleanings & Exams
Routine dental exams and cleanings are important for maintaining good oral and dental health. These appointments are important for patients of every age. During your visit, we will remove any plaque buildup and tartar from your teeth. This helps prevent cavities. Throughout the cleaning, we check for any irregularities, periodontal (gum) disease, and signs of oral cancer. Cleanings are finished by flossing and polishing your teeth.
To prevent further damage after cavities have been removed, fillings are used. White or composite fillings are made out of tooth-colored materials and are virtually undetectable. A filling provides teeth with stability, strength, and protection against broken teeth, cavities, and decay.
When a tooth is worn, broken, or a portion has been damaged by tooth decay, a dental crown may be used. This restoration option is used to bring function, aesthetics, strength, and function back to a tooth. A dental crown can be made out of metal, porcelain, or both. The crown is cemented onto existing tooth structure. Each crown is sculpted in a dental lab to fit your individual jaw and bite movements.
Are you missing teeth due to gum disease, decay, or injury? A dental bridge may be used to restore an area of the mouth where one or more teeth are missing. A dental bridge is permanently fixed to adjacent teeth for support. It helps to restore speaking and chewing ability. It is important to maintain a healthy mouth, teeth, gums, and jaw in order for the bridge to be successful.
A root canal is necessary if the pulp of a tooth becomes inflamed or abscessed due to trauma or large cavities. During endodontic treatment, the interior of a tooth is disinfected and the infected pulp is removed. The canals of the tooth roots are then sealed to prevent bacteria from infecting the area again. Finally, the tooth is restored with a crown or filling, which returns it to normal strength and function.
Extracting a damaged permanent tooth can, in some cases, help a patient return to optimal health. If an extraction is the right treatment option for you, our staff and dentists will work with you to determine the best way to replace the tooth. It is important to replace the tooth to prevent problems with surrounding teeth, and maintain the aesthetics of your smile.
Dental implants provide a great restoration option for patients who are missing teeth due to dental decay or extractions. A dental implant consists of metal frames or posts which are surgically inserted into the bone beneath the gums. You must have sufficient bone structure to support the posts.
If you want to correct chips, stains, or gaps in your teeth, veneers provide a conservative restoration option. Veneers are stain resistant and feel like natural teeth. They are made out of porcelain or other tooth colored materials. A veneer is custom fit to the front side of the tooth and can help make significant changes to your smile.
For patients who still retain some of their natural teeth, partial dentures are a great option. Dentures provide you with a way to restore a natural looking, healthy and functional smile.
During your initial orthodontic consultation, we will discuss the treatments available and what best fits your needs. Thanks to advances in orthodontic care and technology, traditional metal braces are not always necessary. Together, we will determine if you are a good candidate for invisible or clear braces, and what options fit into your budget.
Laser Gum Recontouring
Your teeth may appear short and stubby if you have excessive gum tissue. In reality, your teeth are just waiting to be revealed! Using a soft tissue laser, we can remove excess gum tissue and reveal a brighter and beautiful smile.
